“At war I am at peace, at peace I am at war”

Chris Hunter was born and raised in Sunderland in an area that was surrounded by drugs and crime. He was brought up by his mother - a single parent who struggled with her health but did her absolute best raising him and his sister. At a young age Chris naturally became a product of his environment, but at the age of 16 he decided to make a big change in his life and joined the Army.

In doing so he reached the rank of Warrant Officer in the Coldstream Guards. He deployed and fought on the front line during various tours throughout his career; the first of which occurred in Iraq when he was just 18 years old. Flying through the ranks at a young age he assumed his first instructor role at just 21 developing soldiers in training and preparing them for service within their field units. At 26 he was promoted to Platoon Sergeant and was the youngest to do so in his Battalion. He was awarded a prestigious commendation award during his final tour of Afghanistan, but it was various events throughout this tour that ultimately led to his medical discharge.

During his pending discharge he achieved a first class honours degree in Leadership & Management at The University of Sunderland, and completed an ILM Level 7 in Executive Coaching as well as becoming a Personal Trainer.

Chris is now a motivational speaker and uses this platform to give an insight into challenging leadership situations. He is also an executive coach, developing senior management through coaching and mentoring. He also runs his own Fitness Company which includes Personal Training and teaching the delivery of the Level 3 PT Diploma.
